Each spring, VVMF works with the Department of Defense to update the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. This sacred responsibility ensures that The Wall continues to tell the fullest, most accurate story possible of those who served and sacrificed during the Vietnam War.
This year, there were no new name additions to The Wall, and the total number of names honored remains 58,281. But for seven service members who were repatriated in 2025, an important change has been made. Their status symbols on The Wall have been updated to reflect that they have finally come home.
On Memorial Day, we will officially welcome these seven service members home during VVMF’s annual Memorial Day ceremony at The Wall:

Walter A. Renelt, USAF

Their names have always been part of The Wall. Now, their stories carry a new chapter of remembrance, recognition, and homecoming.
We hope you will join us at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. ET as we gather with the National Park Service, Vietnam veterans, families, supporters, and friends to honor all who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam and in all conflicts.
